Sami Smith YOGA INSTRUCTOR
Sami’s Yogic influence began in early childhood where she developed core guidance through the Bhagavat Gita at the International Society for Krishna Conciousness - formerly the Portland Temple in North Portland. The teachings that she learned though this experience held true to her core through her life. When she was 16 she began active practice twice a week at NW Portland, and took her practice from the facility to the mat and directed her focus into self-exploration, and intrinsic practice. In 2014 she obtained her RYT 200 under Lundberg Yoga. In 2016 she obtained her Aerial Foundations Certification at Epidavros Yoga Center and became a member at The Vedanta Society. In 2017 she went on to obtain JOGA Accreditation through Jana Webb, and Sports Yoga 2018.
Sami has a background in anatomy and physiology, personal training, primal movement, functional nutrition, and is an avid researcher of neuroscience, and neural development. Her background has allowed her teaching style to evolve into an organically customizable practice that fits the needs of all types of students in varying industries and is more recently hyper focused on bringing fluidity and ancestral practice into movement and delivering a solid niche in the foot brain connection as well as proprioception conditioning.
Sami’s journey has led her to offering private instruction for alignment and fitness, working with children developing gross motor skills through animal movement and kids yoga, in the high schools athletic departments as a Sports Yoga Instructor, and becoming the Owner / Founder of R I S E Yoga & Movement, at Foster North, a multi – functional studio Located in the Foster-Powell District in Portland Oregon. Now as the Practitioner for American Top Team Jiu Jitsu and Naga Thai Boxing.
Sami hopes to bring forward the movement revolution into all her practices and students to realign people with primitive movement and myofascial freedom.
